006 [Voice - Goldenrod]

[There's a steady quality to Steve's voice, though with enough stress that if you listen for it, you can hear that he's forcing this quality, to hide his discomfort. Every so often, there's the sound of an Espeon making pathetic little noises and a strong purring noise that follows each time, but otherwise there's very little noise for whatelse is happening around the man.]

I've been thinking about what it would be like to have Pokemon in my world, back where and when I came from. How it would change every day life, how it would change sports and movies, how it would change the function of machines, how it would change war. I'm finding that I don't think it would have changed as much as people would suppose. Maybe the future, but my time would have been similar in the turn of events.

It's made me wonder if anyone else has thought about such things. So, I pose the question to all of you, how do you feel having Pokemon in your world and time would, or would have, changed things?

((OOC: If his peeps(or other people in Goldenrod) want to come action at him, feel free. He's found a nice place outside, alone but for Pokemon, just drawing and seeming withdrawn))

Life might have been easier. Or more difficult. But it would have been very different to be sure.

[Because it's a good question. What could have been different if they had Pokémon on top of everything else?]

We would have had a pet though, that's for sure.

[When the feed Start's Tony doesn't react to it, listening but that's it. After a moment he stills his pencil long enough to look at the screen. Then, he just gathers up paper and some more pencils. He glances around for Pep, but can't see her, she shrugs then goes out looking for Steve, he doesn't say a word as he sits down next to him and just goes back to his blueprints.

He could hear the tone of his words, and just can't bring himself to let Steve be alone right now.]

[Blake is pacing around the city. He can't hold still. His eyes are red and his movements are stiff and jerky. Usually right now he'd be out doing some animal fighting, but the thought of one of them out in the grass tearing at something with its teeth is not fucking okay right now. So he walks.]

[For once his Snubbull isn't with him. It's with all the rest, in the little balls shrunk down and shoved in a bag in his apartment.]

[There's somebody on the phone, and Blake's about to reply, but he runs into him in person first. He's brought up short, and the crazy thing Tony told him pops into his head and right out of his mouth.]

Captain fucking America.

Didn't have a pet growing up?

[Steve looks up only long enough to see it's Tony. Since Tony doesn't say anything, he lets it be for now, drawing with Amber curled around his neck and Rita laying by his side, Maggy is behind him somewhere, not easily spotted.

Steve can't think of anything to say just yet, so he starts to draw Tony instead of the building off in the distance. By now he can draw all his pokemon by memory, but he doesn't have much practice drawing Tony.]

The only domestic animals I was interested in as a boy were sheep and chocobos. They never made good pets, not for long. Then again, there were only few domestic animals around, so it wasn't like we had a lot to choose from.

Pokémon would have been very popular though, for both the civilians and the military. [But he wonders-- if Pokémon had been present in his world, would that have made the bioweapons facilities pointless? Or would the Pokémon have been turned into bioweapons?]

I also wonder if Pulsian and Cocoon Pokémon would have been different from each other.

[Steve has his Espeon curled around his neck, almost painfully so, but seeing as he's Captain America, it doesn't bother him much. The Arcanine at his side looks at Blake, both curiously and with meaning, she, like the Absol hiding near by, would attack at the smallest provocation.

As for the man referred, he looks up at Blake as the man says his name with profanity. This makes him raise his eyebrows first then furrow his brow at the other man. He's not sure how to take that, by no means is he new to any form of profanity, but still, usually it's not so sudden.]

Probably the most vulgar way I've been referred to by that title.

[Unlike Steve, none of Tony's pokemon are with him. So he sits 'alone' while he draws and seems too comfortable with it.

His eyes are focused on the paper as his hands round out over lines as he reproduces his arc reactor, if for no other reason than to keep himself busy. As he works every now and then he slowly licks his lips, in between him wordlessly talking to himself as he processes what he's drawing.]

We have a number of domestic animals in my world, seems another difference in our worlds.

I would say there would be. There are animals in my world that the rich or people of certain areas were much more likely to have. I would think that anywhere that people divide themselves from other people, there would be a similar divide in creatures like Pokemon, since they seem almost as individual as humans.

[Steve finds a small amount of amusement from Tony doing as he is. Having gone to art school, Steve has observed a number of people creating in different ways, the mutterer wasn't uncommon. Steve is a mimic, he mimics expressions as he draws, or mimics the expression of the emotion he's trying to convey in his art. Bucky often made fun of him for it, but the man was a mutterer himself, so it feels familiar.

He takes a second to reach up and grip at the dogtags around Amber's neck. She insisted on wearing Bucky's dog tags after the second nightmare. It seemed fair to give in to her after she's suffered the dreams with him.]

You're a mutterer.

[Tony stops when Steve speaks, almost as if he didn't expect to hear him.]

I'm, a what?

[He raises an eyebrow at him before glancing back to the sketch wiping at it with his thumb to get rid of some loose graphite.]

Though I'm more wondering along the lines of how Pokémon would have grown or changed being on Gran Pulse, considering how different circumstances are between there and Cocoon.

And the differences between those places and Academia.

[Because heck, five hundred years.]

I would have definitely had pets though. That much I'm sure of. Maybe a Taillow or Starly, but a Mareep would have been a constant presence around me.

[Blake doesn't like the way the animals are staring at him. Makes the skin on his neck crawl. Makes him think of fangs.]

[He'll go right for the chance to think about something else. He holds up a hand and tries to look less like an angry jackass. He doesn't want to get told to fuck off.]

There was some guy calling you that the other day. Like the comic book character. I thought he was crazy, but come to think of it...

[Yeah, it adds up, when he thinks of it.] That's a nickname you got from somewhere, right? For being all blond and clean-cut.

[Blake's smile is tired and a little bit relieved.] It's not like you're actually Captain fucking America.

You mutter as you draw. A friend of mine used to do that.

[Steve continues drawing, not shamed by drawing Tony at all. Amber whimpers softly, curling harder against Steve's neck. He reaches up to pet her with his free hand while Rita starts to purr loudly, Amber quiets down after a moment and Rita fades her purr away.]

Depends on how much you think Pokemon are affected by evolution in the Darwin sense. There are Pokemon here that aren't over in Kanto. So probably.

I'm not surprised to hear about the Mareep. No dark types though?

[He licks his lips as it's pointed out, before looking down slightly.]

Technically it's thinking out loud, JARVIS used to always be there to reply.

[He leans back and regards the drawing, then nods at it before slipping it to the bottom of his paper pile and starting some vague Iron Man schematics.]

But now, he's not here to talk down to me so I've been trying to. Not... Do it.

[For a moment he looks incredibly lonely, but it disappears as face as it appears as he starts drawing his helmet.]

[Steve lifts his eyebrows curiously, more surprised to meet someone for once trying to seemingly figure out a way to discount him as Captain America rather than accept it and ask for his autograph or something.

He listens carefully, he wonders who might be telling people he's Captain America. Either Tony or Danny, but he feels Blake would have been more likely to brush off a kid's claims than an adult's. So, now why was Tony telling people he's Captain America. Questions for the man later, for now to address Blake.]

No, it was a stage name, but it stuck once I went over to help fight the war effort, especially after they started to produce cards and comics.

Talk, I don't mind. I'm not JARVIS, but I'll reply. [Steve knows that lonely feeling, he understands. There's not much many can do for him, he misses a time and people he can never get back, no matter what, but he could be a sad substitute for a machine.]

Or get a Polygon and teach it how to talk.

I'll ask you later about this Darwin sense. But no, I don't think I would have gotten any dark types unless it was a Poochyena or Mightyena. What gave you the idea?

[He hasn't... been obvious about his ghost-phobia has he.]

[He blinks at the paper.]

Uh, Really? I mean I know that Pepper has a hard ti-

[He pauses for moment, realising how long it's been since he's seen her then he swallows it down, knowing that Steve has it worse in that department. passing it off as dropping his pencil so the pause almost looks like he's paying attention to it's falling before picking it up.]

Hard enough time following what I talk about with to JARVIS, and she's been by my side for years.

And no deal on the Polygon, too much like raising a child teaching it to talk, really not something I'm suited for, or should be allowed to do really, because really, I'd accidentally set a kid on fire or something.

[It's moments like this that subconsciously, Tony realises that when he's quiet for too long, when he does start talking, he just talks a lot of crap as if to make up for the quiet he caused.]

[Oops, forgot that Hope's world wouldn't have had Darwin.] Oh, yeah, I'll explain that more later.

You usually have a dark type near you at most times, figured you favored the type. [That and he knows some about that ghost phobia lol]

[The world may have gone nuts, the rug may have been pulled out from under his feet so many times that he's practically living falling down, but comic books aren't real. That's important.]

Huh, so that much is true. It was the same guy who keeps going on about being a rich supergenius, so I figured he was full of shit from the word go.

[The relief only lasts for a second before a terrible suspicion grows and can't be ignored.]

You're saying the comics had something to do with you?

[Perfectly innocent reasoning then! But he probably can trust Steve with this, so he slaps up a filter.]

Well, I do like dark types, but not as much as steels or electrics.

But I don't have a dark type on me all the time. Just only when I know there's a ghost around, or someone with a ghost Pokémon. [Like, say, Tony. And sometimes Steve if he has the Lampent in the party.]

Well I suppose it would depend on how they showed up in the world in the first place.

Things would have been different, but I don't think it would have changed the overall outcome of things much.
